Meet Our Mindful Speakers

On Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th June UCS will stage its first ever Mindfulness Weekend – two days of inspiring talks, art and craft demonstrations and workshops designed to help us relax, recharge and get creative. In this blog post we are delighted to introduce our fabulous speakers to you.

Kate Beddow

A holistic therapist and teacher, Kate specialises in working with teachers and schools, focusing on energy, mindfulness and relaxation skills. Kate was diagnosed with a pituitary tumour in 2007, and decided to make some changes to her life and career. From there, she combined her teaching and holistic skills to create Calmer Classrooms – classes and training to help teachers to help themselves, and their students, to stay happy, healthy and calm. What’s more, if your kids (and grown up kids!) are into Star Wars, they’ll love the fact that Kate is about as close to a real-life Jedi as you can get! Look her up on the official website of the Church Of Jediism – – and you’ll find her listed as the official Jediist Master Of Holistics.

Jenny Wood

Jenny qualified as an Art Psychotherapist in 1997 and served the NHS for 23 years, working within mental health and learning disabilities services. She now describes herself as an ‘eclectic integrative therapist’, having trained in different therapeutic approaches including clinical hypnotherapy, systemic family therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy. Jenny’s outlook is that it’s never too late to follow your dreams and try things that you, perhaps, never believed yourself capable of.

Asha Clearwater

Asha is a former journalist and editor, who divides her time between her work as a reiki healer and shamanic practitioner and coaching local business people on creating amazing content to promote help promote their services.

Taz Thornton

UCS resident artist Taz Thornton works extensively with mindfulness as a practice, having reinvented her life following a breakdown AND breaking her back in three places. She spent a decade learning from shamans and medicine people, as well as training in Neuro Linguistic Programming, mentoring and even firewalking! When she’s not creating everything from drums and rattles to pyrography art and jewellery in her studio at UCS, Taz speaks on mindfulness and mindset worldwide, coaches people 1-2-1, runs spiritual empowerment and personal/business development workshops and is also a best-selling author.
