News from Unique's Potters
Tony Orvis, one of our resident potters, said goodbye to his classes this month as he has decided to retire from teaching. Kim, Fiona, Rebecca and the students are very sorry to see him go, but he has promised to still visit the pottery to catch up, share his invaluable knowledge and maintain his role as chief scone taster in the café. Tony has done a huge amount for the pottery and his students in the many years he has been running it and we would all like to thank him for sharing his enthusiasm, skills and talent.
Apart from the disbandment of Tony’s Thursday morning group, the other classes are still running. Kim will now be teaching all three classes on a Monday and Fiona will teach all three classes on a Tuesday.
In addition to the above lessons, Fiona has set up a ‘Pottery Hub’ to start at the beginning of June. A group of four potters (previous students) and Fiona will be getting together every Wednesday morning to work alongside each other and bounce ideas around with the aim of creating a buzzing working environment. Please pop in for a chat and a coffee – you are very welcome.
Our resident Potters, Tony, Kim and Fiona, have had a busy Spring. They were selected to take part in the Anglian Potters Summer Selling exhibition in April, closely followed by the Stamford Pottery Market over the Bank holiday weekend. They thoroughly enjoyed the experiences and are keen to continue showing their work at similar events over the coming year. Watch this space for upcoming venues.
