The teaching studio at Unique is a light and airy converted barn with good natural light, it is available for artists to hire to run their own workshops and classes. It can comfortably accommodate a maximum of 12 participants for practical activities. It has a hot water sink and 6 large tables. Equipment includes a printing press, drying rack and easels which are available on request. There is ample parking at Unique and a café which is open Tuesday to Saturday. There is good access to the site for disabled visitors.

  • 13.00 – 16.30 or

  • 17.30 – 21.00

Terms of use

  1. Time needed to set the studio up and tidy it after use must be included within the time frame booked.

  2. The studio key can be collected from the café and returned there after use (the studio should be left locked).  If the café is closed when the hire ends the key can be posted in the letter box located on the wall next to the site’s entrance gate. For Sunday and evening bookings alternative arrangements will be made.

  3. No part of the hired premises shall be used other than for the purpose of the room hire described on the application form.

  4. The hirer shall not sub-let the studio.

  5. The Hirer is responsible for any damage to the hired premises during the times of hire and to any of the property within the premises for the entirety of the hire.

  6. The studio must be cleaned and tidied after use. If the Hirer has used coffee and tea making facilities, the cups must be washed.

  7. Unique Cottage Studios will not be responsible for any loss of, theft or damage to any property arising out of the hiring.

  8. The Hirer shall comply with Unique Cottage Studios’ operating policies and procedures including Health and Safety.

  9. The Hirer is required to have public liability insurance and is responsible for risk assessing all activity taking place within the studio for the duration of their booking.

  10. The Hirer is welcome to bring electrical equipment to use during their workshop/event but it must be PAT tested.

  11. The Hirer must obtain prior permission of Unique Cottage Studios to attach posters, banners, flags or other such material to both the interior and exterior of the premises.

  12. The Hirer is responsible for the marketing of their event/workshop and will manage all bookings. Unique Cottage Studios will promote the event/workshop through its monthly newsletter, brochure and Facebook page on request and at no extra cost to the Hirer.

  13. Unique Cottage Studios reserves the right to cancel any bookings but will only do so in extreme circumstances.

  14.  In the event of a Hirer cancelling a booking with less than two weeks’ notice, the full cost of the booking will be invoiced unless another Hirer is found.

  15. The Hirer agrees to pay for the booking at the agreed price.  All bookings will be invoiced shortly after the event/workshop has taken place and prompt payment is expected.

  16. The Hirer uses the studio in the knowledge that the site is open to the public. Although visitors are encouraged to be considerate when workshops/events are taking place it is not always possible to control noise levels.

  17. Workshop participants have access to the toilets in the café during opening hours. When the café is closed they can use the toilet in the courtyard but it is the Hirer’s responsibility to check that the door is closed before leaving the site.
