Jacs Harris is an experienced artist with a passion for landscapes. Based in the Lincolnshire Fens, her current work is about exploring the landscape surrounding her home studio (which is very near to the workshop venue!). She takes an experimental approach to her work and through her workshops shares elements of her creative practice to help and inspire others.

Make Your Own Drawing Tools Workshop
Sat 15th Jan, 10am-4pm £65

Make Your Own Drawing Tools is a fun and experimental workshop where we will explore the unique and interesting marks, patterns, textures and lines that we can create by using our own home-made tools.

The workshop will start with a morning session to make and trial tools using many various materials (recycled items, household items, foraged items) and then after lunch we will work on mark making/drawing and painting projects with our new tools.

 

Workshop timings:

10.00am - 10.30am Welcome, outline of activities, techniques and materials.

10.30am - 12.30pm Forage, construct, trial and modify tools.

12.30pm - 1.30pm Lunch break (Refreshments available in the cafe or bring your own packed lunch to eat in the studio and chat!)

1.30pm - 3.30pm Guided mark making activities with your new tools.

3.30pm - 4.00pm Review and finish.

 

You will leave with fab new art making tools and some artworks created with them, along with new skills, knowledge and techniques to use in your future creative projects.

All materials provided.

Just bring along overalls, an apron or clothes you don’t mind getting messy in. A warm waterproof coat will be handy for the first part of the workshop where we will be outside foraging for materials.

Mark Making Workshop (Age 11-18) £25
Saturday 5Th February, 9.30am - 12pm

During our fun and relaxed workshop we will be drawing and painting focusing on and exploring the process of making marks on paper….

Using inks, pencils, crayons, pastels, paints, with various tools, brushes and found objects.

Creating texture with resists, layers, scratching, rubbing, scraping, making holes, ripping, collage and monoprinting.

Trying fun exercises such as non-dominant hand, double hand and automatic drawing.

 

You’ll come away from the workshop with some (perhaps slightly still wet) pieces of paper covered in amazing and interesting marks that can be used as inspirational springboards to your drawings and paintings. You will have learnt some tips and techniques to inject freedom and creativity into your future artworks.

All materials will be provided. All abilities welcome! 

 

Just bring an open mind and overalls, an apron or clothes that you don’t mind getting messy in!

Concertina Book Landscapes £70

Saturday 5th March 2022 10am-4pm 

 

Concertina Book Landscapes is a fun and experimental approach to creating landscape paintings.

In this full-day workshop I will guide you through each stage to construct and paint your book. We will begin by creating the foundation layers with drawing, mark making and collaging onto paper which we will cut, glue and fold into our concertina books. 

After lunch we will begin painting onto our books. You can bring reference material with you if you wish to paint a specific landscape or we can create generic or ‘from memory’ landscapes. 

There will be a choice of materials for you to use including: Various papers, inks, pencils, crayons, pastels and acrylic paints.

Workshop timings:

10.00am - 10.30am Welcome, outline of activities, techniques and materials.

You will leave with a beautiful piece of artwork that you can display at home and some skills and techniques to inspire future landscape drawing and painting projects. 

Some experience of making landscape drawings or paintings may be helpful but, as always, I welcome all abilities and experience levels! Why not come along and give it a go?
