Saturday 19 May – Open day between 10am to 4pm
A fantastic day of craft and countryside activities. Following two hugely successful events we are holding another creative open day down on the farm! There’ll be sheep shearing and alpacas to see, craft taster sessions on offer in knitting, pottery, stained glass, felting and weaving. There will be demonstrations in spinning and using natural dyes. Refreshments will be available and craft items will be on sale.
A great day out for all the family.
We have been involved with supporting the set up of the Lincs Artist Forum – which has a facebook page that you might like to join.
It is a network or Lincolnshire based artists from a wide range of backgrounds and practices. We share information and are looking at the possibility of setting up as a social enterprise.

Woolly Spires’ is a prestigious countywide community art outreach project for The Collection in Lincoln that is managed by artsNK.
The project, piloted by the Sleaford knitters had its first public appearance of the 3D woolly version of St Denys Church, Sleaford at the Bathing Beauties Festival. The beautiful artwork attracted crowds of curious festival visitors and representatives of the knitting group were to hand to answer a multitude of questions and receive praise for their exquisite detailed work.
Unique Knitters are involved in knitting a scale model of St Mary and St Nicolas Church in Spalding which they hope to have finished early in 2012.
Eventually, ‘Woolly Spires’ will become a unique collection of knitted versions of Lincolnshire’s magnificent churches.
We have recently been collaborating with Freelance Artist Carol Parker on a funded arts project.

Knit2gether lincs is a collaborative knitting project which captures the inclusivity and celebration of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Unique Cottage Farm Studios and Carol Parker, both based in Spalding have worked together to connect many diverse towns and groups within Lincolnshire.
Knit2gether lincs is part of Igniting Ambition, a Cultural Olympiad programme in the East Midlands which invests in projects and people that take the London 2012 Games as their inspiration to create once-in-a-lifetime cultural opportunities for audiences and communities. Igniting Ambition is funded by Legacy Trust UK, an independent charity set up to create a cultural and sporting legacy from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the European Regional Development Fund and the East Midlands Development Agency, with the support of Arts Council England and many others.
The Olympic Games and Paralympic Games are about more than sport. London 2012 is also staging a Cultural Olympiad – a series of events to showcase the UK’s arts and culture to the rest of the world. It is the largest cultural celebration in the history of the modern Olympic and Paralympic Games, designed to give everyone in the UK a chance to be part of London 2012.
ABOUT THE PROJECT:
Taking inspiration from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Carol will work with hard to reach groups, individuals and knitting groups to create a knitted athletic/running track using natural and synthetic yarns. The track will represent the road of opportunity, achievement and inspiration of contributors. It will show the individuality of each group by representing the heritage of the local environment and the people who live there before being joined into one long knitted exhibit, connecting all the groups and towns who created it.
Eye-catching ‘yarn bombing’ public art events have taken place in Spalding, Sleaford, Lincoln and Skegness to decorate town centres with colourful knitting displays, turning them into vibrant, thought provoking areas full of creative life and energy.
Knit2gether lincs culminated with an exhibition of the completed track at several high profile events in the county, with all contributors names displayed. Following the exhibition the track will be deconstructed and recycled into blankets for charitable use.
