STILL LIFE
Contemporary Painting with
Charles Harrison
A 6 week Painting Project investigating
the painterly medium and its creative
implications.
11th November to
16th December
Contemporary Painting with Charles
Harrison is perfect for anyone wanting to learn about
and create work of a high standard and is a basic
alternative to studying at University or doing a
Foundation course. During this six week project you will
gain a number of new skills through both practical and
theoretical application.
Charles Harrison is a young artist based
in Lincolnshire, who has found success early in his
career for his paintings – which utilise a number of
painterly techniques to achieve rich effects in colour,
form and mark-making.
The 6 workshops are aimed at engaging and
improving painterly work for artists of any level of
experience, and this project will focus in particular on
Still Life, its histories, its common focus, and its
importance / relevance to contemporary art practice
This course will allow you to work in a
relaxed and professional environment that affords
opportunities to discover your own creative ideas and
also gain experience in contemporary painting practices,
leading to your own individual exploration or
progression to higher education. More than anything, you
will learn how to create extraordinary effects in paint,
whilst also learning about the historical and present
contexts of the medium.

of these courses proved to be exciting and challenging
practices in their respective medium and we hope to see
the return of a number of the tutors for our future
events.
Charlie
Harrison finds Success in London!
Our
Resident artist and Tuesday group tutor exhibited at
London's Prestigious Affordable Art Fair, where he went
down a storm, selling all 12 pieces of his
work!Following
the fair, Charlie commented,
"It's
been absolutely unbelievable - talking to some of
the buyers, seeing their reactions and appreciation for
my work was an amazing experience. It's a bit surreal
thinking that I've got paintings hanging on walls around
Europe when they were just sitting in the corner of my
studio a couple of weeks ago."
His work was exhibited
again on 16th May in
Bristol and Charles has an exhibition in Amsterdam in November 2008.
