This
series of Friday life classes will develop your skills
in depicting the human figure, starting with some of the
basics (such as shape and proportion) and progressing to
more complex techniques (foreshortening, tension and
portraits). The class is split each week into a morning
session with a life model, and an afternoon session that
further develops drawing and painting abilities. We will
work with a range of models and a range of materials to
investigate the diversity of the human figure, and
experiment with how we can best represent it. 16yrs

Discover Oil Painting with Mo Teeuw
Wednesday 17 March 10am to 4pm
Popular artist and teacher Mo will
teach the basics of oil painting in this informative
workshop. With a combination of demonstration and
practical tips Mo will give you the confidence to paint

Renowned Norfolk based artist will
encourage students to develop their work from sketch
into a painting using pen, gouache and watercolour in
this one day course. Suitable for all

Textile Creations - Art Dolls with
Lorraine Appleton
Thursday 8 April 10am to 4pm
Art dolls are quick and fun to
make. They are also a great way to recycle
oddments of fabric, threads, beads and broken
jewellery. On the day Lorraine will show you
several techniques which can be made into brooches,
Christmas decorations etc. Suitable for adults and
accompanied children from 7 upwards.

We are very lucky for have booked
this one day course with John Shone, willow weaver and
expert from Rutland Willows. It will be a highly
entertaining day where you start off learning basic
willow weaves and techniques, followed by making willow
fish and a life-size willow pheasant for your garden. 16

felt-making with experienced felt artist Lyn Jenkins and

and learn the technique of creating a head/figure in
clay. Jonty Meyer is a very

Carolyn Goodwin has been painting
sheep for many years and in these two relaxed half day
workshops she will share her enthusiasm of the subject
with you. Beginners and more
experience artists are very welcome. These workshops
will take place outdoors using the Unique Farm sheep as

Lets Celebrate Sheep! - Wool
and all it's Uses

Come down to the farm and celebrate
the animal that inspires much of Carolyn Goodwin's
work!
Both modern and rare breeds of sheep
will be on show. There will be demonstrations in sheep
shearing (weather permitting) and also spinning and
weaving. Felt making, stained
glass and knitting will also be taking place.

using the copper foiling method of construction with

Stained Glass Treat for Red Hat
Ladies
Red
Hat Society the Flinders Fillies enjoyed a stained glass
workshop recently at Unique Cottage Farm
Studios.Members of the club met Gillian
& David Wing from Strawberry Glass Design and made
their own Red Hat sun catchers in the large
studio.
Dorothy Short of the Flinders
Fillies said All the ladies were
so pleased with the organisation of the workshop and we
are genuinely thrilled to have learned something new and
have such a pretty item to take home.

Rags to Riches Day
Lorraine Appleton ran a very
successful workshop during the summer for adults and
children where participants made coiled fabric vessels,
rag rugs, and recycled patchwork bags.

Pigeon Pictures
Some local youngsters had a fun time
making their very own Pigeon Pictures at Unique Cottage
Farm Studios. The workshop which was run in
conjunction with the South Holland Centre preceded the
children's theatre show Don't
Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late by Big Wooden
Horse Theatre Company.
Three Day Sculpture
Course
Renowned Stamford based sculptor
Jonty Meyer ran a three day course on sculpting from
life. Students enjoyed the time concentrating on
creating a head from clay with gentle guidance.
Mo
Teeuw's Acrylic Day
A
lovely day was recently enjoyed at the studios when
painter Mo Teeuw taught a new approach with
Acrylics. Participants went away with a set of
Atelier Iteractive paints, CD and water spray having had
a demonstraion of the new acrylic paints from Mo
ands some great tips on how to achieve a landscape with
a difference.
 
Green
Shoots - Recycled Crafts Day a huge success!
Over 60 people had a go at
crafts using recycled & natural materials on Saturday July 4 at Unique Cottage
Farm Studios. Participants enjoyed feltmaking and
weaving with Carolyn Goodwin, Paperclay with Roz
Fridholm, Mosaics demo with Fiona Gurney, a communal
collage & painting project with Charles Harrison,
flax animals with Helen Porter and a beautiful stall
stocking ethical yarns from Yorkshire based company
Moral Fibre. Gillian and David Wing at Strawberry Glass
Design had well over 20 participants having a taster
session of Stained Glass too.
The BBQ was very popular too. Here
are a few pictures of the day!
